The NTK will put you on equal footing, or better, with many new and vintage microphones that cost several times as much.
I love the NTK. My guess is that it will still sound great 40 years from now.
The proof is in the listening, for sure. They sound fantastic. Startlingly fantastic, perhaps as good as any mic in the world. Certainly as good as any mic I have ever used, and yes that includes the obvious.
When we plug the NTKs in and powered up the power supply, all of a sudden we realized what we were missing. The mics are smooth and brilliant.
The Rode NTK lives up to all my expectations in sounding both warm and flattering, yet open and detailed. Every subtle vocal articulation is captured... I like it very much!
Both the NT1000 and NTK are examples of excellent efforts from RØDE. Based on specs and clearly audible quality of sound in the studio, these mics cannot be ignored.
While most would understandably be interested in the NTK as a vocal mic, and it is a good one, it makes a great all-around mic for many purposes. Recently I used one on a bass guitar cabinet. After trying several other high quality dynamic and condenser mics first the NTK was the one that brought the proper balance of articulation, low end, and warmth to the track. Great all around mic.
To my instant surprise, the NTK immediately delivered warm, clear, and full-bodied sound! Since then I've used the NTK in hundreds of various recording situations, and with a multitude of different instruments including vocals, acoustic guitars, classical guitars, upright bass, percussion, and more. I love to create sounds using two microphones of different make and model in a stereo field, but almost always the NTK is included. It sounds great paired with a KSM44, or 414. I've even used two NTKs as drum overheads, and they sounded fantastic!
There is no better condenser microphone at this price range, and purchasing the NTK has been one of the wisest "mistakes" of my recording career.
I was amazed by the clarity and warmth of the NTK. Let's be honest, most well known microphone brands trade on their name.I have auditioned most brands out there, and can say with the greatest of confidence that you dont have to spend $7000 to get a good sound.
This mic has replaced my Shure condenser for almost all my voice work. I do a lot of spoken word production which requires an intelligible mic with a distinct presence. The NTK has both. My production now stacks up better on-air against the bigger studios. I also record rock and folk vocals and again, the RØDE does very well in these applications.
What a great mike - not just for the money. This mic is a clear example of why you do not need to mortgage your house to get absolutely pro sound - RØDE has done the recording musician a huge favor. If you want warm and clear vocals and acoustic guitar, this is perfect- buy one and set the mike up and play and sing. You won't be sorry.
