Plus d’Informations:

The Glider Pilot is a short documentary about gliding. It's set at Cotswold Gliding Club near Stroud in Gloucestershire, and features my father-in-law Roger who loves gliding.

It's a film that I have wanted to make for a long time, but I kept finding excuses to put off filming. Having the deadline of My RØDE Reel 2017 to work with inspired me to set dates in the diary with Roger, and to get out and film.

The Glider Pilot was filmed at Cotswold Gliding Club between Stroud and Cirencester in Gloucestershire.

It was filmed on a Panasonic GH4R in Cine-D and a Canon 5D2 in Prolost Flat. I used a RØDE smartLav+ and SC3 cable together with a Tascam DR-05 for the interview, and a RØDE VideoMicro as an on camera microphone on the GH4R for natural, ambient audio.

The lenses I used on the GH4R are old Olympus Zuiko lenses from the film era, adapted to digital. A 50mm F1.8 silvernose, and a 28mm F2.8. On the Canon 5D2 I used a Takumar 50mm F1.4 and a Canon 35mm F2 IS.

Colour grading was completed in Davinci Resolve using FilmConvert (KD 5207 Vis3), and I pulled the yellow hue down by -20 on the GH4R footage to correct the overly yellow tones I was getting for the grass.

After colour grading the footage and prior to cutting the footage in Lightworks, I sweetened the audio using Audacity.

Music is by Kevin Graham and was licensed via Art List, a music licensing subscription service I have recently signed up for which features some fanastic musicians.

My husband Ed helped with filming, capturing some footage from behind the scenes, as well as filming our winch launch and footage of the glider in flight from down on the airfield.
